Community Supported Agriculture: CSA at Plum Creek Farms

So, many of you know that Fox and I have been a part of a CSA (community supported agriculture) for about a year and a half so far and can I tell you; we are loving it!  For those who may not know, a CSA is a system in which consumers receive food directly from the farmers who produce it. But unlike a farmers' market system, we actually share in part of the farmers' risk. That is, we pay in advance for a portion of the farmer's total crop and we get whatever is growing at the current time.  So, if tomatoes are abundant......we have lots of them which was the case last year.  If you know us, you know we love salsa so this was not a problem at all! Due to the cloudy and wet season this year, we have had LOTS of squash (So sick of squash!).  Every kind you can imagine yellow squash, zucchini squash, spaghetti, acorn, butternut......there are so many I cannot remember. Now, it might not seem like a huge problem except when you try to be creative with squash every night.  Soup, curry, fried, pasta; you name it we have made it!  I would love to share some of the recipes with you......but I don't use recipes.  So, I guess now I am just blabbering about squash.
Moral of the blog (haha), if you have this available in your area.....try it! It is super fun to cook new and exciting food.  We have gotten veggies that we had to google! They are usually very flexible; some include meat and eggs, others can be bought by number of people.  Take a look at this website for information in your areas: http://www.localharvest.org/csa/.  Stay tuned....hope that my next one is wittier.

Sigh.....

Here goes nothing....
So, I have had this account set up for a month almost and had the worst time trying to figure out what to write.  I have officially decided that it is going to be a place for me to ramble, keep up with my thoughts, showcase my awesome new hobbies and keep the fam in touch with my life here in Cleveland.  Things are less than extraordinary here lately; work, yoga and Parnell's.  I have a few large trips planned for work that I am preparing for that are going to impinge on my blogging time but we will see how it goes!  There will be many a recipe from my exciting CSA (community supported agriculture) crop and some cool do-it-yourself projects from around the homestead to come.  Maybe I will even bite the bullet and do one of those Words of Wednesday things for ya! :)  Anyway, if you enjoy my ADD stay tuned for more; if not, don't sign on!  haha  Sorry, just made myself laugh out loud a little.  Join me on my adventure of this thing they call life.
